Notice of Senate Meeting Cancellation – January 18, 2012

The Vancouver Senate Agenda Committee met on Friday, January 6 to consider the agenda for the regular meeting of the Senate scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 18. Due to a lack of business, it was the decision of the Agenda Committee to cancel the January Senate meeting.
Please remove this meeting from your schedules. Items submitted for the January agenda will appear on the agenda for the next regular meeting on February 15.
In advance of the next regularly scheduled meeting, Senators are invited to review the 2011-2012 Enrolment Report, available at: http://www.senate.ubc.ca/vancouver/enrolmentreport.cfm. The report will appear for discussion on the February Senate agenda. Any questions related to the report may be directed to James Ridge at james.ridge@ubc.ca or 604.822.3265.

Call for Topics of Broad Academic Interest

The Senate Agenda Committee encourages any member of the UBC Community to propose topics of broad academic business for possible discussion at a UBC Vancouver Senate meeting.
Submissions may be up to 300 words (approximately one page) in length and should include commentary about why the Senate in particular might find the topic worthy of discussion.
For submission under this category, topics are for information and discussion only. They must not include a motion or require an immediate decision by the Senate. Please use Senate’s regular submission process for approval items.
Other criteria for consideration include:
• Cross-University topics that span multiple disciplines or areas of interest that are related in some way to Senate’s role in the academic governance of the University.
• Emerging themes, trends, or issues that may inform future Senate involvement or policy development.
